OptMsg Release Notes v1.1.5

OptMsg Release Notes v1.1.5

OptMsg v1.1.5 makes your inbox more private and conversations easier to follow. OptMsg now blocks the tracking pixels senders hide in their emails and cleans tracking codes from links, and a new Trackers & Hidden Content card in your scorecard shows you what it blocked or flagged. Long reply chains now fold into tidy cards, the replies you send stay with their conversation in other mail apps, and Trash keeps outside images in check until you decide. We’ve also refined dozens of everyday moments, from tagging to sign-up. Here’s what’s new.

Trackers blocked, for your privacy

  • New: the Trackers & Hidden Content card. Your scorecard has a new card that shows how often senders tried to track you or hide text from you, and that OptMsg blocked or flagged each one for your privacy. Open it to see the trackers blocked, the links cleaned and the hidden content OptMsg flagged, each with its own short explanation.
  • Tracking pixels blocked. Many marketing emails carry tiny hidden images that tell the sender when you open a message. OptMsg blocks these tracking pixels and tracker images in the email you receive, so senders can’t use them to see when you open a message.
  • Cleaner links. Links have their tracking codes (like utm_ tags) removed before you tap them. Where a link goes never changes.
  • See what was blocked. A privacy chip on a message shows how many trackers OptMsg blocked. Tap it to see each one, along with every cleaned link and its original address.
  • Show hidden content. Some senders hide text you can’t see, to get past spam filters, influence AI tools or change how a message appears in previews. OptMsg flags it, and Show hidden content on the message lets you see exactly what was hidden.
  • Emails that keep working. Some trackers are left in place so emails keep working and look as intended. The FAQ explains how it works.

Conversations that are easy to follow

  • Earlier messages as tidy cards. When a message quotes the conversation before it, the earlier messages fold away behind a single toggle. Open them and each one appears as its own flat card with the sender, the date and a short preview, with no deep indentation to scroll through.
  • Expand all, or just one. Open a single card to read it, or use Expand all to see the whole history at once.
  • Replies that stay together. Replies you send from OptMsg carry the standard conversation details other mail apps look for, so your recipients see your reply in the same conversation as the original.

Replying and forwarding

  • Complete quote headers. When you reply to or forward your own message, the quoted part opens with its From, Sent, To, Cc and Subject, and the addresses in it are tappable.
  • Clean quotes. Quoted text carries only the message itself, so replies read cleanly for everyone.
  • Images that stay put. Images in the messages you quote keep displaying for your recipients, whenever they open your reply.
  • A single, continuous quote bar. Quoted text is marked by one smooth bar while you write, and your recipients see the same.
  • More secure replies and forwards. Replies and forwards are more secure.
  • A quick check before you send. OptMsg asks before sending a message with no subject or an empty body, so nothing goes out unfinished by accident.
  • Pasted images on the web. An image you paste into a message on the web shows up right away in your draft.
  • Moves that stick. Delete or archive a message while you’re reading it, and it stays exactly where you put it.
  • Easier-to-read scorecard tips. Each part of the Trackers & Hidden Content card has its own short explanation, and a tip stays open until you close it.

A more private inbox

  • Trash keeps outside images in check. Images from outside sources stay hidden in Trash until you choose Show images, and you can set your own preference. Opening a link from a message in Trash asks you first.
  • Previews that show what you’re meant to see. Inbox previews and notifications show only the visible text of a message, leaving out text a sender has hidden and invisible characters.
  • Text that reads the way it was written. Message text, sender details and recipient lists always display in their natural reading order.

Reading your mail

  • Wide emails on phone browsers. Wide newsletters and receipts scroll smoothly side to side when you read OptMsg in a phone’s browser.
  • Images that arrive with the message. Images included inside incoming messages display reliably, and even very large messages full of images arrive intact.
  • Accurate dates. Labels like “Yesterday” and weekday names stay accurate around daylight-saving changes.
  • More room to read. On phones, the bottom navigation bar steps aside while you read a message, view a contact or select several messages.
  • Landscape, refined. On Android phones held sideways, the message list sits clear of the camera, and on iPhone the Settings screen scrolls as one smooth page with every option in reach.
  • Previews you can count on. Every message in your list shows a preview of its text, even during the busiest moments.
  • Calendar invites from every calendar. Invites whose time-zone details are written in less common ways arrive and display like any other.

Tags, Trash and Outbox

  • Easier tag editing. In Edit Tags, tap anywhere on a tag’s row to select it, and keyboard users see a clear focus outline. Moving a message to a tag files it once the tag is saved.
  • Unread, right where you are. Mark as Unread inside a tag view updates in place.
  • Folder and tag counts that agree. Every folder and every tag shows its total and unread count from the same source, everywhere in the app.
  • Restoring from Trash in one step. Move a batch of messages out of Trash and OptMsg offers a single prompt to add their senders to your contacts. Restored messages return to exactly the folder they came from.
  • A focused Outbox. The Outbox offers the actions that apply to each message, including Move to Drafts for one that needs another look.
  • Tidy notices. When a recipient address needs a second look, one notice appears and clears itself.
  • Contacts that keep up. After you allow contact access, OptMsg keeps up with changes to your device’s contacts.

Signing up

  • A clear path. Every sign-up step shows Back on the left and “Step N of M” on the right, at every screen size.
  • Friendlier with password managers. Browsers and password managers recognize the username field and can save it for you.
  • Autofill that just works. A phone number your browser fills in with its country code is accepted as it is.
  • Get the app from your phone. Signing up in a phone’s browser ends with a button that takes you straight to your app store.
  • Start over, cleanly. Choosing Start over during sign-up takes you back to the sign-in screen from anywhere in the flow.

Accessibility

  • Bigger targets on the web. Icon buttons across OptMsg on a desktop browser now offer a comfortable 44-pixel tap and click area.
  • Keyboard-friendly dialogs. The Edit Tags dialog shows where your keyboard focus is, and its buttons respond to Tab and Enter.

Under the hood

Alongside the above, v1.1.5 brings a new foundation for conversations on our servers, a more secure path for every image in your email, faster and steadier notifications during busy periods, a series of security hardening improvements, and fresh certificates and infrastructure across our web addresses. You won’t see these directly, but they’re the groundwork for what’s coming next.
