When using the OptMsg app on your Apple or Android device or when you access your OptMsg account on the OptMsg webpage, you understand that your data in relation with your use of our Services is processed according to the following privacy policy and its product-specific privacy policies (together, the “Privacy Policy”). The Privacy Policy states (i) what data we collect through your access and uses of the Services; (ii) the use we make of such data; and (iii) the safeguards put in place to protect your data. The Privacy Policy is to be read and understood as being a complement to our terms and conditions.
The Services are operated by OptMsg LLC (the “Company”, “We”), domiciled in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48302. It is therefore governed by the laws and regulations of the United States.
Information We Collect
OptMsg is designed to minimize data collection. However, we may collect the following:
Information You Provide:
- Account information: When creating an OptMsg account, you will be asked for a first name, last name, date of birth, and mobile phone number for account setup and verification purposes only. Creating an OptMsg account will give you access to all our Services.
- Payment information:We rely on third parties, such as Stripe Inc, to process credit card, PayPal, and other forms of payment and must therefore share payment information with them. The legal basis of these processing activities is the necessity for the execution of the contract to provide the Services. In order to respect the principle of data minimization, we reserve our right to remove payment information from our systems that is no longer valid, without notice.
- Message information: OptMsg allows you send and receive messages using our service. Users can compose, save as draft and send messages using our app. Users may delete messages sent or received using the app.
- Contacts and address book information: If you grant the app permission to access your contacts or address book, we may collect and store names and contact information from your address book to facilitate certain app features, such as managing your contact list, adding contacts to address messages or opting-in trusted contacts to receive their messages in your OptMsg Inbox. You may revoke access to contact data through the app settings. Any previously uploaded contact data can be deleted within the OptMsg app.
- Attachment information: If you grant the app permission to access your photos, videos, or files on your device, we may collect and store these files to facilitate certain app features, such as attaching one or more files to a message or saving one or more files from a message to your device. A user may delete a message and therefore any attachments contained within that message using the OptMsg app.
- Support Communications: Your communications with us, such as support requests, bug reports, or feature requests may be saved by our staff. We may also rely on third parties, such as Zendesk Inc. to which you consent to having the data processed. The legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest in troubleshooting more efficiently and improving the quality of our Services. The information you provide when you contact our support team is processed for analytics purposes (such as to obtain aggregate statistics), but we do not do any targeted advertising or profiling.
- Social Media:We are active on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, X (Twitter), YouTube, TikTok and may leverage other social media platforms in the future. Any information, communication, or material you submit to us via these platforms is done at your own risk without any guarantee of privacy. We cannot control the actions of other users of these platforms or the actions of the platforms themselves. Your interactions with those features and platforms are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that provide them.
- Referral program: OptMsg has a referral program that is open to OptMsg users, publications, non-profit organizations, etc. If you are coming to OptMsg via such a referral program, your subscription may be attributed to the referrer. Some referrals are managed internally by OptMsg while others may rely upon third-party platforms used by the referrers, and if you are coming to OptMsg via a referrer, our site may communicate with such referrer platforms for the purposes of crediting referrers.
Information We Get When You Use Our Services:
We collect information about how you use our services, such as the features you interact with and the frequency and duration of your activities. This helps us improve our services and provide a better user experience.
- Message information: OptMsg allows you to receive messages using our service. These messages may contain information, images, links, attachments, etc. Users may delete messages sent or received using the app.
- IP logging: By default, we do not keep permanent IP logs in relation with your Account. However, IP logs may be kept temporarily to combat abuse and fraud, and your IP address may be retained permanently if you are engaged in activities that breach our terms and conditions (e.g. spamming, DDoS attacks against our infrastructure, brute force attacks). The legal basis of this processing is our legitimate interest to protect our service against nefarious activities. The authentication logs feature records login attempts to your Account and does not track product-specific activity, such as VPN activity.
- Web and application analytics:When you use our websites and applications, we (or the mobile app platform providers) may collect certain information. We may use analytics software, app statistics and crash reporting, Play Store app statistics, App Store app statistics, or Firebase analytics, performance and reporting) to send crash information to our developers in order to rapidly fix bugs. Some platforms, such as Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store may also collect aggregate, anonymous statistics, which may be governed by their respective privacy policies and Terms of Service. Such statistics can include most commonly used devices and operating systems, total number of installs and uninstalls, and the total number of active users.
Information from Third Parties:
We may receive information from third parties, such as service providers, to enhance our services and ensure security.
- Links to other websites: Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, we are not responsible for the content of any website that we link to, and external sites are governed by their own terms and conditions and privacy policies.
- Links to other websites and embedded content: Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, we are not responsible for the content of any website that we link to, and external sites are governed by their own terms and conditions and privacy policies. We may use third parties to provide embedded content (e.g. pictures) on our website which may collect information about you. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest to operate our website economically.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Deliver and Maintain Our Services: We use the information we collect in order to operate, deliver and maintain our Services.
- Develop & Improve Features: Our teams are constantly coming up with new ideas for features and ways to improve our Services. In order to do this, we also develop and improve the algorithms
- Analytics: In order to understand what to build or how to improve our Services, we need to understand trends and demand for our features.
- Communicate with You: Send you updates, respond to your inquiries, and provide customer support.
- Support: When you ask for help, we want to get you support as quickly as possible. In order to provide you and our business partners with the help needed to resolve issues with our Services, we often need to use the information we have collected to respond.
- Enhance the Safety & Security of Our Services:
- We use your information to enhance the safety and security of our Services, verify Snapchatter identity, and prevent fraud or other unauthorized or illegal activity.
- Comply with Legal Obligations: Fulfill legal requirements and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- Other Purposes, With Your Permission: Additionally, there may be instances when you interact with our Services that we will ask for your permission to use your information in a new, different, or otherwise specific way.
How We Share Information
- With Your Consent: We may share information when you provide explicit consent.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and services.
- For the purposes of a Merger or Acquisition. If we were to sell or negotiate to sell our business to a buyer or possible buyer, we may transfer your information to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction.
- Network traffic that may go through third-parties: OptMsg can send and receive messages from third-party messaging services. OptMsg’s network traffic may go through third-party networks, which we do not control to provide these features. This could enable a third party to record your IP address or see that you are using OptMsg apps (the same information that your internet service provider is able to see).
- With Service Providers: We may share information with trusted service providers (“Third-party subprocessors”) who assist us in operating our services and may process different categories of data, subject to strict confidentiality agreements. Processors never store data outside of the scope of their specific purpose. Subprocessors are as follows:

Your Privacy Rights
- Access and Control: You can access, update, or delete your account information at any time through your account settings.
- Data Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Account Deletion: If you close your account, your data will be permanently deleted, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Account Suspension: If your Account has been suspended for a breach of our terms and conditions, and you would like to exercise the rights related to your personal data, you can make a request to our support team at support@optmessage.com.
Changes to This Policy
Within the limits of applicable law, the Company reserves the right to review and change this Privacy Policy at any time. As long as you are using the Services, you are responsible for regularly reviewing this Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Services after such changes are performed shall constitute your consent to it.
